100 Mile Race

I really enjoy being out in the bush with the dogs. Racing keeps me focused and gives me a goal to work toward, but the relationship with my team is what I live for. Having a good kennel partner is very important to me as well. The support I receive from my kids is priceless. I am looking forward to a new year of mushing.

I have been mushing for 3 years and racing the past 2. I enjoy time in the outdoors with my dogs and do some woodworking when I can find the time.

I began running sprints in Ontario with a very patient mentor Jim Cunningham. After running in the ISSRA sprint race in Dawson City, I made the decision to run mid-distance and soon moved to the Yukon. After much trial and error I began running mid-distance races. I never looked back. The Yukon has been home for the last 15 years and dogs have always been a part of it.

The Caledonia Classic is one of my favorite races. In all my years of racing this one is at the top of my best ranking races. This is why the challenge of running this race competitively puts this race into another category. Running 7 dogs 100 miles into 2 runs and the first grueling 65 miles straight to the first checkpoint put this race's “toughness “ to another level. Battling the steep climbs, switch backs and the heat puts musher's athleticism and their team to whole other level. I compare this race to running across the Yukon Quest “rose bud and eagle summit". If you're looking for a real challenge, come challenge yourself to this awesome and very welcoming race. It’s a no nonsense approach to simply run a good tough race. Makes this one a must on your “bucket list “ of races.

I'm a mama of two fun, caring, energetic kiddos who are 5 and 7 years old. They love mushing their own teams and spending time outside having fun (kinda like their mom😉). I have the best group of friends and family that support my shenanigans. And a supportive caring husband who doesn't blink an eye when a doggo (or four) appear in the yard. I couldn't do this without him.

Eric owns Revelstoke Dogsled Adventures and has been a staple and longtime supporter of the Caledonia Classic. He runs amazing dogs and is usually on the podium. Eric lives in Revelstoke with his wife, Connie (who must be a saint for putting up with him), and his two children.

I live off grid with my husband, Doug, who does not understand why anyone would mush dogs but supports me 100%. I love the solitude of mushing and race to get on new trails.

As a rookie musher from the prairies I’m looking forward to my first race at the Caledonia Classic this winter. My occupation is a Sonographer and when I finish work I enjoy spending all my free time outdoors with my dogs. I have a small team of experienced dogs (thank you Chavez Marin) and an amazing mentor in Marcel Marin so no pressure at all!

I have a small adventure and racing kennel in Fairbanks where I spend most of my time out and about in nature with the dogs.  I'm an engineer by trade and a dog musher.
